I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Politics at the New School for Social Research in New York. My research focuses on two broad areas. The first is international political economy, and particularly the transformation of international finance from the nineteenth century to the present day. My second area of focus is the history and theory of international relations, and I am specifically interested in the question of international order in the modern era. In addition to a first book — States and the Masters of Capital — published with Columbia University Press (2023), my research on these themes has appeared in academic journals like International Organization, the Review of International Political Economy, International Politics, and International Theory.
I am currently working on three projects: i) a trade book about contemporary international order (with Claire Vergerio) ii) a monograph about early modern world politics, iii) and a research project on international financial hierarchy.
Before coming to New York, I obtained a D.Phil. in International Relations from the University of Oxford (2016), as well as an M.Phil. from the same institution (2012), and a B.Sc. in Political Science from the Université de Montréal (2010).
